Hello

At the age of 53, I have had a varied career background, which means I am able to offer my services backed up by strong professional knowledge and experience.

I started my working life as a mental health nurse, caring for people in Edinburgh and Hampshire who had behavioural needs linked to mental health problems and/or brain injuries. It was fascinating to see the workings of the human mind and understand some of the ways that skills can be learnt or re-learnt and how simple things can be reassuring for people suffering distress.

After the birth of my first child, I decided on a change in direction and studied for a degree in Journalism. This appealed to my love of writing, which began at school. I just love the way my brain fires up while I'm writing, shooting ideas at me when I least expect it. I then worked in magazine writing and in a press office.

As my older child started growing up, I found myself helping with the various groups he was part of. This gave me a taste of what is was like to work with children, teaching them and helping them find their place in life.

My second child came along 14 years after the first, and I took the break as an opportunity to make another career change, this time into teaching. I have spent 10 happy years teaching, seeing my ideas for for learning come to life and watching children grow in confidence and understanding. I developed a strong sense of how to support all my learners, including those with special educational needs.

I am excited about being able to combine all the knowledge I have from my previous careers, with the creativity I love, to bring you services that will enhance your life.
